Next Saturday, the 18 May, a New Zealand beauty will go up for auction and we’re proud to say that a drag queen will be there leading the way.
The lovely Buckwheat (Edward Cowley), New Zealand Drag Queen and entertainer, has been given the privilege of auctioning ‘Louisa Wall in White Light’ by New Zealand artist, Te Mete Solomon Smith. Louisa is a Labour MP in New Zealand.
The Charity Auction will be held during the evening of the Countries Annual Gay Ball in what we hear is a truly gorgeous setting: the Chateau Tongariro Hotel
The artist is also generously giving 50 per cent of all auction proceeds to the New Zealand Aids Foundation.
The Ball is definitely considered an essential on the gay calendar and rumour has it there’s a brilliant line up on the entertainment front, and who doesn’t love an excuse to dress up? We’re just waiting for our invite. How much are flights to New Zealand?

Now, we don’t know much about Buckwheat, but we really want to know more. Cowley has around 20 years experience on the New Zealand drag entertainment scene and has worked for the New Zealand AIDS Foundation for just shy of 12 years.
Cowley hit the headlines back in 2007 when he was hired by the Ministry of Social Development to motivate its Pacific Island staff. Beauty and brains.
World AIDS day is held on December 1.
